New generation 2017 Kia Rio digitally altered to reach sporty GT status image

The Kia Rio supermini has reached its fourth generation and the South Korean automaker is going to increase its upscale credentials by delivering the GT trim.

The automaker presented the all new generation just a few days ago, but it looks the digital artists have already taken notice and tried to enhance the appeal of the model. The render achieves this status by showing how the sportier GT trim may look. The feistier version has already been green lit by the company managers so we’re sure the production version will exist. Kia has been delivering the cee’d with the GT moniker for years, so X-Tomi Design decided to use that as a reference for the upcoming subcompact hotter hatch. The Kia Rio GT will have powerful opponents – the VW Polo GTI and Ford Fiesta ST, so the first Rio GT iteration will need some important updates.

First off will be the more aerodynamic body kit with aggressive bumpers and the now familiar four-point LED daytime running lights. The designer also envisioned massive two-tone wheels – directly taken from the cee’d GT where they have reached 18 inch in size and are paired to 6-inch brake discs with red calipers. The exhaust tips should also get the sport treatment, and a suspension modification is in order to bring up the driving credentials. The engine could be a toned-down version of the turbocharged 1.6-liter from the cee’d GT, in the Rio GT having around 180 hp.
