The new generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI will make its North American debut during the 2013 New York Auto Show, on the 26th of March.
After it was officially presented to the public in a premiere during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the new generation of the VW Golf GTI is now getting ready to arrive on the U.S. shores. Volkswagen says that the new hot hatch generation will be officially presented to the public during the 2013 New York Auto Show, on the 26th of March. The new Golf GTI is made on the same MQB platform used on the regular car and also on other models made under the close watch of the VW Group.
Power to the Volkswagen Golf GTI is being provided by a 2.0 liter turbocharged direct injection petrol engine, from the EA888 series, which is producing a total output of 220 PS (162 kW). The model is now available, for the first time in history, with a more powerful version, named the Golf GTI Performance, which is coming with 230 PS (169 kW). Both variants get Stop/Start as standard and a 6-speed transmission. Fuel consumption is identical al 6.0 L / 100 km and CO2 emissions stop at 139 g/km.
