The Kia Cee’d can be called a revelation in the compact segment and if we would listen to the recent rumors, than the new generation of the South Korean car will rival the VW Golf GTI, the Renault Megane RS and the Opel Astra OPC.
According to Autocar, the new Kia Cee’d will have a highly tuned turbo version, powered by the 1.6 liter engine, and delivering around 250 BHP, which should give the car a 0 to 60 mpg acceleration time of around seven seconds and a top speed of 140 mph.
The new generation of Cee’d will also feature a sport suspension and bigger brakes, so the handling should be significantly improved. The small 1.6 liter unit will most likely be mated to a new six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The Cee’d Turbo in the three-door configuration will be unveiled at the next Paris Motor Show and will be priced under 20.000 British pounds.
This won’t be the only surprise that the Korean automaker has and Kia will also release a convertible, which won’t be based on any current compact hatchbacks but rather on the next-gen Soul, expected to hit the market sometimes in 2014.
