The South Korean based automaker Kia is planning to launch the new Rio generation in Malaysia in January, 2013.
After the third generation of the Kia Rio has been officially presented to the public during the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the model is now getting ready to make its way onto a new market, Malaysia. The model will arrive in Malaysia in January, 2013, and it will become available in a five-door hatchback form, being powered by the 1.4 liter MPI DOHC with CVVT Gamma engine, producing a total output of 109 PS and 136 Nm of torque, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
The new B-segment hatchback’s wheelbase has been extended by 70 mm to 2,570 mm and the model has a storage space in the boot of 288 liters. The overall length of the new Rio generation has also increased by 55 mm, along with the 25 mm added to the overall width. The new Rio’s height has been reduced by 15 mm and this is translated into a sportier stance. The model will become available in Malaysia in two trim levels, the EX and the SX, but more details on them will be announced close to its launch.
