The British car manufacturer Lotus could get a V6 engine for its new Exige generation, which may have the “S” badge on it.
After spy photographers apparently caught a V6 powered Exige doing some tests on the road, rumors about the new generation of the Lotus model went up and the Norfolk auto maker announced the new six-cylinder unit which will replace the current unit.
The new V6 engine will most likely be the Toyota-sourced 3.5 liters, the same found on the Evora, and Lotus had some big work in order to accommodate the larger unit on the Exige.
The Lotus Evora equipped with the 3.5 liters V6 engine is developing 276 horsepower and a maximum torque of 252 lb-ft, but powering the Exige with the Toyota engine will increase the car’s weight, so the performance of the new generation is not known for now.
The new generation of the Lotus Exige, powered by the Toyota six-cylinder engine, could make its official appearance at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, which will take place in September.
