The Italian based automaker Maserati is planning to develop a new entry-level sedan, which will be based on the Chrysler 300C and other similar models.
The car manufacturer didn’t announce anything official on this subject for the moment but according to the guys at the new Maserati entry-level sedan will be a direct competitor to models like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the BMW 5-Series, the Audi A6 or the Jaguar XF. Our source is also saying that the new entry-level sedan which will be made by Maserati is expected to be based on the same platform as the Chrysler 300C and the model should hit the market in 2014 in the U.K.
Rumors are saying that the new four-door sedan which will be placed under the Quattroporte on the market will be named the Levante and it will share a 3,052 mm wheelbase with the Chrysler 300, while the Quattroporte will get a long wheelbase version of that vehicle. Codenamed the M157, the Maserati Levante will get V8 petrol engines and V6 diesels which will be similar to the ones used on the future generation of the Quattroporte. The Maserati Levante will make its debut in 2013, during the Frankfurt Motor Show, in a concept form.
