The Japanese based automaker Mazda is planning to introduce an all-wheel drive arrangement for the next generation of the Mazdaspeed3.
Mazda’s answer to the Volkswagen Golf 7 R or to the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and other vehicles in the segment will be known as the Mazdaspeed3 and the model in question will also receive an all-wheel drive setup, in order to be more competitive. The announcement hasn’t been made officially by the carmaker but it was hinted by the company’s deputy program manager, Takeo Mariuchi, who said that the Mazda3 is based on the same platform as the CX-5, which basically means that it can easily receive an all-wheel drive version.
According to Mariuchi, “from a technical point of view, it’s not difficult to install a four-wheel drive system” in the Mazda3. The previous generation of the Mazda3 MPS was coming with a 2.3 liter turbocharged engine, producing 263 HP, sent to the front axle. The AWD setup of the future model will resolve the torque steer, which was a subject of complaint from drivers of the previous version. We’re not sure when the brand new Mazdaspeed3 will be officially unveiled but rumors are saying that it might hit the market by December.
