New Mercedes GL gets a touch of Carlsson image

The Carlsson German car tuner has unveiled its luxury kit for the Mercedes-Benz GL Grand Edition ahead of the model’s debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Carlsson brings some exterior modifications to the new GL, like a new front spoiler, a chromed grille with their logo instead of the Mercedes’, LED daytimers integrated into the front spoiler lip, a new rear apron and quad-pipes stainless-exhaust system.

The interior now has Alcantara upholstery, along with wood, stainless-steel and aluminum insertions, and let’s not forget the Carlsson logo which can be found on the door sills and on the headrests.

Carlsson’s CGL45 comes with a power boost too, with the 3.0 liter V6 engine now developing 306 BHP and 700 Nm of torque from the series 261 BHP and 620 Nm. The range-topping GL500 comes with the boosted V8 engine which is delivering 430 BHP and 600 Nm of torque.

The German tuner also fitted the luxurious SUV with an intelligent suspension-lowering system which decreases the height by 30 mm and big wheels couldn’t be left aside. The new GL now stands on 22-inch rims wrapped in 305/35ZR22 high-performance tires.
