New Nissan Concept going to Tokyo Motor Show image

The Japanese based automaker Nissan is planning to introduce a new concept car, later on this year, during the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.

Nissan is trying to keep up with the competition and with the 370Z becoming just too expensive these days, the answer might be a new sports car, which will sit below the one mentioned above. The model is expected to be based on the Esflow Concept, and it should get a “green” powertrain. According to the company’s executive vice president, Andy Palmer, the model will be unveiled in Tokyo, later on this year.

“We think that there is room below the 370Z for something very special. And for that we will see you at Tokyo. I think there is room for both petrol-electric hybrid and pure electric”, as Andy Palmer said.

The new Nissan Concept car will be eventually transformed into a production model, but things won’t look that good for it in terms of competition, because it will go against popular models like the Mazda MX-5, the Toyota GT 86 or the Subaru BRZ. Additional details on the new Nissan Concept car are limited for the moment and they will be announced during the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.
