The German based automaker has just released new official images which are revealing the third generation of the popular SLK, which comes with the new stop / start system, improving the roadster’s average fuel consumption by 25 percent.
According the Stuttgart based automaker, the engine range for the third generation of the SLK includes a 1.8 liter turbo which comes in two versions, the 184 horsepower from the SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENY and the 204 horsepower from the SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY.
Moving higher in the line-up we find the larger 3.5 liter V6 engine which is delivering 306 horsepower on the SLK 350 BlueEFFICIECNY. The most interesting powerplant is definitely the one found on the SLK 250 CDI, with its four cylinders and 2.143 cc which is delivering 204 horsepower and has a peak torque of 500 Nm.
At the top of the range we can find the prestigious 55 AMG, 5.461 cc, with its naturally aspirated V8 engine with direct injection of fuel, codenamed M152, which is delivering 422 horsepower at 6.800 rpm and a peak torque of 540 Nm at 4.500 rpm.
The prices for the new generation of the Mercedes-Benz SLK start from just under 40.000 USD.
