The French based automaker Renault will launch a new production Alpine model by 2015.
The revival of the iconic Renault Alpine brand has started earlier this year with the A110-50 Concept and the final production version of the model will be co-developed with Caterham. According to the Renault marketing chief, Stephen Norman, the all-new Renault Alpine will be light and it will look completely different that what we’re used to. The model is expected to become an instant hit considering the fame of the Alpine brand.
Rumors are saying that the final production version of an Alpine model is expected to be powered by a Renault engine, which might produce approximately 250 HP (186 kW) while the one made by Caterham will get the same engine from the Clio RS, the 1.6 ltier turbo with 200 HP (149 kW), but the same engine used in the Megan Cup, the larger 2.0 liter with its 265 HP (197 kW) might also be a choice. The new Renault Alpine will be a direct rival for models like the Porsche Boxster or the Audi TT and it’s expected to have a starting price in the United Kingdom of approximately 50,000 GBP. The model should hit the market over the following three years, probably at the end of 2015.
