The Japanese based automaker Toyota has recently announced that the new generation of the Auris has entered production in the United Kingdom.
After being launched in the United Kingdom a couple of months ago, Toyota is placing the new Auris generation into the spotlights once again, this time by announcing that the hatchback has entered production locally. The carmaker says that the new Toyota Auris is being produced at the Brunaston plant and the model is aimed towards the European auto market.
“Toyota chose the UK as the location for its first manufacturing centre in Europe 20 years ago and has regularly made significant investments to develop TMUK’s operations and expand their capabilities. New Auris is at the heart of our European strategy and we expect it to strengthen our sales performance in the family car market. It is a unique proposition in its segment in being offered with petrol, diesel and full hybrid power in both the hatchback and new Touring Sports estate version”, said the president and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, Didier Leroy.
Toyota says that the Brunaston plant will produce both the Auris hatchback and the Touring Sports model and in order to assemble the two versions there, a 230 million euro investment has been made in the facility. The investment also created 800 new jobs which have been included in the company’s production apprenticeship programs. Prices for the new Auris generation in the UK start at 14,495 GPB and can go up to 21,745 GBP for the hybrid top-spec.
