The new generation of the Toyota Avanza has been recently launched in Malaysia by the Japanese based automaker.
According to the car manufacturer, the 2012 Toyota Avanza is not just a facelift and the model is actually 20 mm longer and 33 mm wider than before, even if the rear-wheel drive remains the same. Toyota says that thanks to the RWD, the new Avanza is offering an improved maneuverability and the turning circle is apparently the best in its class at 4.7 meters. The exterior design of the 2012 Toyota Avanza hasn’t been drastically modified and it’s easy to see why this model might pass as a facelift.
The new Toyota Avanza is powered by a choice of two engines, the 1.3 liter unit, which is generating 91 PS and 117 Nm of torque, which can only be mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and by the 1.5 liter VVTi engine, which is developing a total output of 103 PS and it has a peak torque of 136 Nm. The larger unit can only be mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and this actually meets the Euro4 standards, considering the fact that Malaysia is one of the few markets which is still on Euro2.
The 2012 Toyota Avanza is coming in four trim levels, the 1.3, the 1.5E , the 1.5G and the 1.5S and prices for the entry-level version have been set at RM64.590, while the top of the line costs RM79.590.
