The successor if the iconic Toyota Supra will borrow some underpinnings from the GT 86 or from the BMW Z4, and it’s expected to hit the market over the following years.
The new generation of the Toyota Supra was initially rumored to be co-developed with Tesla but after a tie-up with BMW has been born recently, the Japanese based automaker has apparently dropped the initial plan. The successor of the iconic Toyota Supra will be based on the Toyota GT 86 and it will also borrow some underpinnings from the BMW Z4.
The new Toyota Supra will ride on a revised platform used on the GT 86 sports car and it will get a suspension tuned by BMW. The model in question will receive a 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine under its hood, mated to an electric motor, which will produce a total output of 400 BHP (298 kW). A more powerful version of the model will also become available, and it will use a 3.5 liter hybridized V6. Additional details on the successor of the Toyota Supra are limited for the moment and will be announced soon.
