Pioneer announced the AppRadio, an attempt to put the apps of the Apple iOS platform front and center in your car.
MotionX-GPS Drive customers can take advantage of Pioneer AppRadio’s capacitive touchscreen for enhanced access to the turn-by-turn navigation solution accessing its 3D maps, real-time traffic information, live point of interest data along with Facebook and Wikipedia integration.
The AppRadio also allows users to use their apps in a safe manner, Cardenas said, and the company prohibited app developers from including certain functions that the company felt would distract the driver unnecessarily from the road, such as manually creating a station in Pandora, for example.
“With MotionX and Pioneer we can now experience the next generation of in-car and pedestrian navigation,” said Philippe Kahn, founder and CEO of Fullpower-MotionX. “The MotionX Pioneer partnership shows the vision for the future of navigation.”
Once in the car, connect to AppRadio’s enhanced 6.1 inch screen for viewing MotionX-GPS Drive’s 3D maps and turn-by-turn directions. The iPhone becomes a convenient secondary screen allowing a variety of activities such as emailing destination arrival times to colleagues, accessing point of interest information or getting the latest traffic updates.
All this while using AppRadio as a speaker phone and accessing all your music and audio books from your iPhone.
