Volkswagen has recently announced its plans to introduce the second generation of the Santana model to China.
According to the German based automaker, the 2013 Volkswagen Santana has a lot of things in common with models like the Skoda Rapid or the Seat Toledo, like the platform, which is offering a 2,630 mm wheelbase and 480 liters of cargo capacity. The new VW Santana is getting some safety features like the front side and head airbags, the ABS, the ESC electronic stabilization program and more.
Depending on the version chosen, the 2013 Santana can get automatic climate control, electric sunroof, parking sensors or leather upholstery. Three trim levels will be available in China, the Trendline, the Comfortline and the Highline, and the model will get a choice of two four-cylinder naturally aspirated engines, the 1.4L with its 90 HP (66 kW) and the 1.6L with 110 HP (81 kW). VW says that the fuel economy has been improved and the CO2 emissions have been dropped by 28 percent compared to the current model in the new Santana. Additional details on the 2013 VW Santana are limited for the moment and will be announced close to its China launch.
