The German based car manufacturer Volkswagen is planning to launch a new version of the popular Beetle, which will drop its top, in early 2013.
Even if there is no official word from Volkswagen just yet about launching a convertible version of the new Beetle in early next year, the guys at caranddriver.com are saying that the model will most likely hit the market soon. According to our source, the all-new Volkswagen Beetle Convertible will be launched in the United States in early 2013, but details like its trim levels, engine choices or price list remain unknown for the moment.
The Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is expected to come with the same powertrain options as its solid roof sister, which means that the vehicle will be powered by the 2.5 liter engine, which is developing 170 horsepower, by the 2.0 liter TFSI, with its 200 horsepower and by the 2.0 liter TDI diesel unit with 138 HP and 320 Nm of torque (236 lb-ft), mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard or to a dual-clutch transmission. More details on the new Volkswagen Beetle Convertible will be announced close to the model’s debut, which might be the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
