The newly unveiled Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio is one expensive ride to own and in fact the drop-top is even more expensive that a Porsche Boxster.
According to the guys at Autocar, the new Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio is priced in the UK from 38,770 GBP, while the Porsche Boxster is less expensive, coming at 37,595 GBP. If you’re into something bigger and with four-wheel drive, than the Audi A5 2.0 liter TFSI Quattro can be yours too, for a similar amount, while for the BMW 325i Cabrio you will have to pay 36,660 GBP. The BMW Z4 is also in the e range, with the 3.0 liter engine and 302 BHP, coming from 39,740 GBP.
Our source is also saying that other models are also in the same price range, and this include the entry-level Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabrio, the top of the line Nissan 370Z Roadster, the Lotus Elise, the Mercedes-Benz SLK or the Mazda MX-5. The so-called “new” Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio isn’t that new because it’s based on the old Golf 6 generation and it’s not riding on the MQB platform. The model has a 2.0 liter FSI engine under its hood, offering 265 HP, mated to a six-speed DSG transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 6.4 seconds and top speed stands at 250 km/h.
