The Acura RLX Concept has been officially presented to the public at the 2012 New York Auto Show.
According to the car manufacturer, the new Acura RLX Concept car has actually been designed to preview a production model, which should hit the market in early 2013. The Acura RLX Concept is coming with LED headlights, an angular grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, navigation system, infotainment system, dual LCD screens, with 8-inch and 7-inch touch screen, the next generation of the AcuraLink communications system, USB, Bluetooth and a premium audio system.
“We have created a true luxury sedan based on our Acura DNA. This means achieving advanced performance through engineering efficiency to create a unique synergy between the vehicle and its drive. Inside and out, on the open road or city streets, the sophisticated and elegant Acura RLX will offer a level of connectivity, comfort and advanced performance demanded by today’s luxury buyers”, said the president and CEO of American Honda, Tetsuo Iwamura.
The Acura RLX Concept is powered by an SH-AWD (Super Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive System) which is made out of a 3.5 liter V6 engine and three electric motors, all of them mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which are developing a total output of 370 horsepower, offering the model a fuel economy of 30 / 30 / 30 mpg city / highway / combined.
