Together with Galpin Auto Sports, Ford has set its mind on proving the Transit’s versatility – so the New York auto show venue has officially debuted in front of the public the Skyliner concept.
The Transit Skyliner is not just any ordinary van concept, but a means to show off the blue oval’s idea of luxury, comfort and customization. The van has taken a rather ordinary 2015 Transit, and used its 487 cubic feet (13,790 liters) of interior space to morph it in four different modes: theater, business, reception and travel.
To make it easy to the owner – the arrangement can be order via smartphone or tablet thanks to movable specifically built “throne” seats that move automatically. Actually everything inside the cabin – from seats to tables or the integrated movie screen has been integrated into a Crestron automation system.
“Traveling in Transit Skyliner is an experience unlike any other” says Tim Stoehr, Ford manager for commercial truck marketing. “You step into the vehicle and are immediately immersed in the custom interior and high-tech audiovisual environment. The next thing you know, you are arriving at your destination.”
The power comes from the Ford 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine, while all the exterior styling was made at Ford of Europe’s Design Studio in Dunton, UK and Galpin Auto Sports took care of manufacturing.
