Smart has recently pulled the wraps off the ForTwo Electric Drive during the 2013 New York Auto Show, in a local premiere.
After announcing the official starting price of the Smart ForTwo Electric Drive in several markets, like the United Kingdom or the United States, at the beginning of this year, the carmaker is now placing the model into the spotlights once again, this time by bringing it to the 2013 New York Auto Show, where it went by almost unseen. The Smart ForTwo Electric Hybrid is coming in two body styles, hatchback and cabrio, and this is the only electric drop-top on sale across the country.
The Smart ForTwo Electric Drive is powered by a 55 KW magneto electric motor and a new 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. The model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 11.5 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 125 km/h (78 mph). The Smart ForTwo Electric Drive has a range of up to 145 km (90 miles). Prices for the model will start at 25,000 USD, across the country, while in the UK, the model will be priced from 12,275 GBP.
