Currently the automotive world is all Swiss because we’re all preparing for the Geneva Motor Show starting next week but we shouldn’t neglect the rest of the planet.
Which is exactly what Acura thought as it has decided to announce the upcoming introduction of the 2017 MDX at the upcoming New York Auto Show. The model is being teased now and the full worldwide public introduction will take place on March 23 when the “redesigned and reengineered” 2017 MDX will sport “substantial design enhancements.” What we can make out from the picture from the Japanese brand is the crossover adopts a more aggressive aura with a sportier front and with a larger grille. We can also make out a sculpted hood, slender headlights, and muscular wheel arches. The cabin will be lightly touched with Acura hinting towards additional luxury, comfort, and convenience features. Rumors point towards an updated infotainment system and some new driver assistance features.
The powertrain range has remained unconfirmed and Acura only said it would bring “advanced new powertrain technology.” That’s rather mysterious and we could expect the SUV to have a new engine or even a hybrid option. The 2017 MDX was reworked by the Acura Design Studio in Torrance, California and it will be manufactured at the company’s factory in Lincoln, Alabama and afterwards also in East Liberty, Ohio.
