The German based automaker Volkswagen has brought the new generation of the Golf and Golf GTI, the MK7, to the 2013 New York Auto Show.
The brand new Volkswagen Golf 7 has finally reached U.S. shores and the model has been seen, in a local premiere, during the 2013 New York Auto Show. The base version of the new Golf 7 is coming with a 1.8 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is producing a total output of 170 BHP (127 kW) and it has a peak torque of 250 Nm (184 lb-ft). The unit can be mated to either a manual or an automatic transmission.
Engine options will also include the TDI Clean Diesel with the 2.0 liter common rail direct injection four-cylinder unit, producing 150 BHP (112 kW) and 320 Nm of torque (236 lb-ft), mated to a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch DSG transmission. The new Golf GTI was also unveiled during the 2013 New York Auto Show and the model is coming with a 2.0 liter TSI engine, which is good for 210 BHP (156 kW) and 350 Nm of torque (258 lb-ft). The same 6-speed manual or automatic DSG can be ordered, along with the Performance Pack. The new Golf 7 and Golf GTI will be launched in the U.S. later on this year and they will arrive in dealerships in early 2014.
