New York: Jaguar plans new sports car – F-Type image

At the 2012 New York Auto Show, Jaguar has confirmed that it will bring an all-new sports car to production; the F-TYPE. The show also served as the debut site for the 2013 Jaguar XK Portfolio Pack.

Acceleration from 0-60 mph will come in under 5 seconds and the car will have a top speed of over 180 mph, Jaguar said at the auto show.

It is expected to cost from around £50,000 when it goes on sale in the summer of 2013.

“The reaction to the C-X16 has been so positive that we’ve accelerated our development of an all-new Jaguar sports car,” said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar global brand director.

“That car will be called the F-Type, and it will be unveiled in production form later this year.”

Too, it will offer “a range of engines” including “a new powerplant family.”

Jaguar will announce the full F-Type model range and details later this year (likely at the Paris Motor Show)
