Next-gen Audi A3 to get new 1.4 liter engine image

The German based automaker Audi is preparing the launch of its new generation of the A3 with details leaking on the way like the new 1.4 liter engine which will be implemented into the model, along with a three-cylinder diesel unit and a natural-gas powered variant.

According to the German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport, the new generation of the Audi A3 will come in four variants divided into two pairs with differing dimensions and wheelbase length, like the three-door and Cabriolet which will be 4.26 meters long, and the five-door Sportback and four-door sedan, which will be 4.44 meters long..

The German magazine also says that Audi is currently working on a new 1.4 liter engine which will power the next generation of the A3, with its 140 PS fitted with the cylinder deactivation unit (shutting down two cylinders under a light load leading to 1.0 liter / 100 km fuel saving when traveling at a constant 50 km/h speed), along with a new three-cylinder diesel unit and a natural-gas powered variant.

The Audi design chief Stefan Sielaff says that the new generation of the A3 will be based on the A4 and A5 models, with the A5 providing the Sportback, coupe and cabriolet variants, while the interior will be influenced by the A3 E-tron previewed earlier this year.
