The German based automaker Audi is planning to drop some significant weight off the next generation Q7 SUV.
With a hot ultra lightweight version of the TT planned over the following years and with a 282 mpg city car, which should hit the market by 2015, the German based automaker Audi has big plans for its future models and after writing about the ones mentioned above, the Q7 SUV is being placed into the spotlights in this latest article. The next generation of the Audi Q7 is expected to drop some significant weight, about 350 kg, and this will be possible with using new “multi-materials”.
According to the company’s head of technical development, Wolfgang Durheimer, the next generation of the Audi Q7 will be based on the next-gen MLB platform, which will be an updated version of the architecture currently underpinning models from the A4 to the A7 today. The same structure used on the future Audi Q7 will also be borrowed by the next generation of the Porsche Cayenne and also on the upcoming Bentley SUV and Continental. Additional details on the future Audi Q7 are limited for the moment and will be announced close to the model’s debut.
