A new rendering with the next generation of the Audi R8 has recently hit the web and it might provide us with a first look into the popular sports car.
The German based automaker Audi is planning to introduce a new generation of its most powerful production car, up to date, the R8, which is believed to make its public debut sometimes next year. The new generation of the Audi R8 will probably be produced at the Bollinger Hofe facility and the model is expected to get a new platform, which will help it shed some significant weight, and probably an entirely new engine lineup.
The new generation of the Audi R8 will share some components with the successor of the Lamborghini Gallardo, the so-called Cabrera, and its total weight is expected to drop below 1,500 kg (3,307 lbs). The engine options which will become available for the German supercar will receive a stop / start system and cylinder deactivation technology. These should improve the fuel economy by up to 10 percent. The new generation of the Audi R8 is expected to be officially unveiled in 2014. Additional details on the model are limited for the moment and will be announced close to its introduction.
