The next generation of the Ford Mustang is believed to be 400 lbs (181 kg) lighter than the outgoing version, once it will hit the market sometimes next year.
The announcement hasn’t been made official by the North American based automaker but according to a recent report, the muscle car is believed to shed some 400 lbs (181 kg) from its weight. If this happens, than it means that the 2015 Ford Mustang will weigh 3,100 lbs (1,406 kg), but this won’t make it significantly lighter than its main rivals, the Dodge Challenger or the Chevrolet Camaro.
The final production version of the Ford Mustang’s new generation will probably hit the market sometimes next year. The model in question will get a different design, with a prominent front grille, new door mirror housings, slender headlights and more. The cabin will receive higher quality materials, a three-spoke steering wheel, metallic accents and upgraded technology. The engine lineup will include the 5.0 liter V8, producing 450 HP (335 kW). Besides this, the Ford Mustang will receive, for the first time in history, a 2.3 liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, which will develop 360 HP (261 kW). Additional details on the vehicle remain unknown for the moment.
