The Italian based automaker Maserati has recently released new details on the new generation of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio.
According to the car manufacturer, the next generation of the GranCabrio will be based on the Gran Sport, instead of the GranTurismo, while the last one will move upmarket and become a larger luxury coupe, which will probably rival with models like the Bentley Continental GT. The Gran Sport on the other hand will be lighter and sportier than any other model in the company’s lineup, and this should make it more attractive to its future customers.
The future generation of the Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio, along with the future Gran Sport, will ride on a shortened version of the same platform which is used on the outgoing Quattroporte and Ghibli. While for the engine options, rumors are saying that they will include a 3.0 liter V6, which will produce a total output of 410 HP (301 kW) and 550 Nm of torque (405 lb-ft). The unit will be mated to a dual-clutch transmission, which will replace the eight-speed automatic. Additional details on the three models are limited for the moment and will be announced close to their launch.
