The future generation of the Mazda 2 has been recently caught on camera by our spy photographers as the model was wearing a lot of camouflage on its body.
The Japanese based automaker Mazda is currently known to have started the development of the new Mazda 2 generation as the model in question will be inspired by the Hazumi Concept, which is featuring the same Kodo design language found on the new Mazda 6, on the Mazda 3 and on the CX-5 crossover too. The Mazda Hazumi Concept had a lot of carbon fiber accents on its exterior but chances are the Mazda 2 will drop these because its price has to be kept to a competitive range.
The new generation of the Mazda 2 will get a modern cabin which will be inspired by the one found on the same Hazumi one-off vehicle, with a transparent HUD, sitting atop the dashboard, which is already available on the Mazda 3. As far as the engine lineup goes, a new member of the Skyactiv family will become available. We’re talking about the 1.5 liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine. More details on the new Mazda 2 generation are limited for the moment and will probably be announced later on this year, close to its debut.
