The Japanese based automaker Nissan is planning to produce the next generation of the GT-R with a hybrid powertrain.
The fact that the next generation of the Nissan GT-R might turn out to be a hybrid isn’t that new and we have already talked about it just a few months ago, but what is mostly interesting here is that the model has been recently hinted by a company’s exec, during the 2013 New York Auto Show. During the automotive event, Jose Munoz, the VP of Sales and Marketing within Nissan North America, said:
“Stay tuned later this year for news that will electrify our legions of GT-R fans worldwide.”
Munoz’ quote is most likely a clue that the next generation of the impressive Nissan GT-R will get a hybrid powertrain. Rumors are saying that the model might make its way onto the market by 2017 and it could use a hybrid system similar to the one used on the Infiniti Essence Concept, unveiled back in 2009. It is unknown yet whether Nissan will move the GT-R upmarket as a rival for the LaFerrari or McLaren P1, in terms of power and performance.
