According to a report published by the TheTruthAboutCars, the next-generation Ford F-150 will have an aluminum body.

According to an anonymous source the 2015MY Ford F-150 will have aluminum bodywork. The US automaker has also prepared a steel body for the model, just in case something went wrong with their initial plan, with the aluminum. The next-generation Ford F-150 has been unveiled in January at the 2013 NAIAS by the Atlas Concept.

The model will be fitted with a new naturally-aspirated V6 3.5-liter, a V8 5.0-liter mill or the 3.5-liter EcoBoost. The 2015 model will come with a smaller V6 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine and the 2016 model will go back to the high-performance Raptor version.

In May Ford said it will add a third shift at the Claycomo plant in Missouri, to boost production of the F-150 trucks beginning with the third quarter. The US automaker will add 2,000 jobs to increase pickup production and to prepare for the introduction of the Transit commercial van in mid-2014.

The F-150 has been the leader of the trucks segment in the US for the last 36 years and the best-selling vehicle in the region for more than 30 years.

“It’s a huge vote of confidence in our truck, our sales and what’s going on in the industry overall and the economy,” Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of the Americas, said in a telephone interview. We wouldn’t be hiring if we didn’t think it was going to last. It is a strong indication of how we feel about our continued leadership in the segment.
