The now aging compact SUV will get a worthy successor next year, and now we have the first spy shots of the car’s prototype undergoing the usual hot-climate tests somewhere in the south of Europe.
The Koleos, which had been signaled by Renault as far back as 2000 and then revealed in 2007, has not been seen by the eager cameras of our spy agents until now in its completed prototype guise. So far, Renault cleverly concealed the chassis and mechanics of the new generation under a high-clearance Scenic.
While the camouflage is covering the car entirely, we can have an idea of the general design of the second generation Koleos – the reports that the model will adopt a similar design as the R-Space Concept, presented back in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show, seem to be accurate.
The new Koleos also looks to have grown in size, becoming part crossover and part MPV and the best guess so far is that Renault will hold the official unveiling for the first part of 2015 – a Geneva reveal is highly possible – to finish up all of its needed testing and probes.
