Earlier today, Thorney Motorsport team revealed the NGTC Vauxhall Insignia which is set to make it’s debut in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship next weekend at the Silverstone circuit.
According to the company, the new NGTC Vauxhall Insignia model will be driven by team owner John Thorne. Power will come from a TOCA turbocharged engine initially, but the team plans to switch to a self-developed Vauxhall unit for 2012.
“We will now develop the engine, based on the Insignia SRI engine available in the road car, in house. However due to time constraints we have decided to use the TOCA engine and evaluate its performance for Silverstone until our own engine is ready for testing.”
The car, which was unveiled to media and partners today at their new Research and Development Centre near Silverstone, has been nearly two years in the planning with over 4500 man hours going into the project.
“All we’re looking for at Silverstone is three finishes. If we can do that then that will be brilliant.”
