Nissan Avila Plant Builds New Trucks for Europe image

Nissan recently declared that its Avila Plant in Spain will begin production of a brand new truck line by the end of next year.

The company plans to invest 100 million euro to develop the model which will complement the Cabstar light truck line up. This model will also help the company in its constant expansion in the European Commercial Vehicle segment, where Nissan aims at doubling the market share and sales volume in the mid-term.

“Securing this new model for Avila gives even greater choice to European customers, safeguards employment and further demonstrates the competitiveness achieved by our teams as a result of the social and industrial agreement reached in May 2010. As part of this agreement between Nissan, Unions and Governments, we committed to allocate a new model to Avila before 2014, and this has now been achieved,” said Frank Torres, Nissan Spanish Industrial Operation Vice-president.

Until today Nissan managed to establish itself in all major global markets and segments, being recognized as a leader in innovative products, technologies and services. With the Nissan Power 88 project, which is a wide-ranging midterm plan for fiscal years 2011 until 2016, Nissan aims at achieving a global market share from 5.8% in 2010 to 8%.
