The Japanese automaker has delivered one of the best cars for mods – just look at the roster of world records that have been broken by aftermarket tuned GT-R models.
But the in-house Nismo tuner is also there – as we recently found out from Nissan’s new video that teases the new record set by the GT-R Nismo. The company is for now only preparing us to the full action and as such details are scarce but the automaker did hint the announcement on the matter is impending. Without any more details it’s anyone’s guess what actually happened but the teaser video was released by Nissan Middle East which at least hints at the possible location of the world record attempt. Anyways as far as we can tell we’re treated to a prepared GT-R Nismo because we can see there’s a new shifter and a bigger intercooler. The front end also looks to have been treated to some improvements to allow better cooling.
By the way, you may remember the Nissan GT-R Nismo was the model that set the “fastest volume production car” record for vehicles lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 7:08.679 back in 2013. The 2016 Nissan GT-R Nismo will set you back $149, 990 if you live in the United States and comes packing a carbon fiber body kit with light bumpers, a rear spoiler, and a carbon fiber trunk lid. Power is provided by the biturbo 3.8-liter V6 engine sorting out 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque – mated to a six-speed dual clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
