The Japanese based automaker Nissan is planning to introduce the electric/hybrid sports car, placed under the 370Z, during the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.
The announcement has been made by the company’s executive vice president, Andy Palmer, who said there is enough room under the 370Z for a new vehicle and hinted that this might be unveiled during the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.
“We think that there is room below the 370Z for something very special. And for that we will see you at Tokyo. I think there is room for both petrol-electric hybrid and pure electric”, as Andy Palmer recently said.
The new Nissan electric/hybrid sports car will be based on the Esflow concept and it remains to be seen whether this will be a concept or a production-ready car. The model is expected to come as an electric/hybrid, with rear-wheel drive, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. The weight of the car should be kept down by using an aluminum frame and composite body panels. The Esflow Concept was able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. The model’s estimated range is 240 km. Additional details on the new Nissan vehicle are limited for the moment.
