Nissan has recently announced its plans to produce an ultimate version of the GT-R sports car, which will wear the Nismo name, just like the high performance variant of the Juke or the 370Z.
Rumors on Nissan developing a high performance version of the GT-R, which will be named the Nismo, have been around for a few months now, but the carmaker has recently stepped forward and confirmed them. According to the Japanese based automaker, the Nissan GT-R Nismo was an obvious choice, considering the fact that the company has already made powerful versions of the Juke and the 370Z.
“It would be unthinkable for us to develop a range of Nismo road cars without including the GT-R. The standard road car is a global supercar and the GTR’s performance on track reflects the passion and talents of the Nismo team. The GT-R Nismo will be special”, said Carlos Ghosn, the Nissan CEO.
The outgoing Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which is generating 542 BHP and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.0 seconds. The Nissan GT-R Nismo will be even more powerful, but performance figures haven’t been released yet. Nissan has already produced Nismo versions of the Juke and the 370Z.
