Nissan introduces 2017 Rogue Star Wars edition image

With a long name – Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition – Nissan is signaling the availability of the Star Wars tie in special series for the fans of the upcoming Star Wars spin off.

Nissan’s marketing department must have had the easiest job in the world when Disney and Lucasfilm announced it was starting work on the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Of course, they immediately decided to tie in the movie with their mid-size crossover that just so happens to be called Rogue. So, this is why the Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition has appeared. It’s not the first time an automotive brand has officially partnered with the Star Wars franchise and it’s also not the first time Nissan gets to the general public movie-themed limited editions. Back in 2012, Nissan UK had the bespoke Juke Nismo Dark Knight Rises, which was tied to the DVD release of the last installment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

The Rogue One Rogue is based on the refreshed 2017 model year, complete with “Rebel Alliance” and “Galactic Empire” logos on the D-pillars and in the cupholders, “Star Wars” logos on the rear bumper and the illuminated kick plates, as well as “Rogue One” plaques mounted on the front doors. Other features include LED headlights, black wheels and body trim and a choice of two colors: Magnetic Black and Glacier White. Under the hood sits the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower, mated to an Xtronic continuously variable automatic and a choice of 2WD or all wheel drive. Just 5,400 units of the Rogue: Rogue One will be available – 400 of them for Canada and the rest for the United States.
