Nissan is planning to introduce a direct rival for the Toyota GT 86 this year, at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.
The Japanese based automaker Nissan has some big plans for its new models and one of these plans includes the development of a Toyota GT 86 rival. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet and it will probably come as a surprise to many but according to a recent report, the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show will host the production-like concept. The vehicle in question will borrow some styling cues from the company’s past and it’s known that this car will not be a “Z”.
The new Nissan sports car will become a new entry-level to the segment and if it will indeed hit the production line, a 1.6 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine might rest under its hood, which should produce approximately 200 HP, which is exactly the same as the 2.0 liter naturally aspirated boxer engine, sourced from Subaru, which can be found on the Toyota GT 86, on the Subaru BRZ and on the Scion FR-S. Additional details on the upcoming sports car signed by Nissan are limited for the moment and will be announced during the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.
