Nissan Pulsar Nismo wants the FWD Ring crown image

The newest member of the Nismo family, the Nissan Pulsar, wants to become the fastest ever production front-wheel drive car on the Nurburgring.

The future Nissan Pulsar Nismo is getting ready to hit the production line but the company’s executives have some big plans for it which will include stealing the crown from the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R, which is currently the fastest front-wheel drive production car to lap the Ring. The announcement has been made recently by the company’s corporate vice president, Keno Kato, who has spoken to the guys from Car Advice.

“A fast hatchback is under development by Nismo. Nismo is from racetrack, so it is aiming at a lap time. That’s the meaning of a serious car”, said Kato to our source.

The brand new Nissan Pulsar Nismo will be taking its power from the same engine which will also be used on the new Qashqai Nismo, the 1.8 liter four-cylinder gasoline turbocharged unit. This will be producing approximately 266 HP (198 kW) and it will get an aggressive body kit, an updated suspension system, beefier brakes and some other tweaks. More details on the model remain unknown for the moment and will probably be announced over the following months when it will be unveiled.
