The new generation of the Nissan Qashqai has recently received a more powerful turbocharged gasoline engine and this will go on sale soon.
When launching the new generation of the Nissan Qashqai, the company has announced that this will be coming with a 1.6 liter DIG-T four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which will produce 150 HP (110 kW), but the car manufacturer has turned out to tweak the unit just a bit so it is now capable of generating no less than 163 HP (120 kW), at 5,600 rpm.
According to the company, the peak torque generated by the petrol burner stands at 240 Nm (177 lb-ft), and it will be available between 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm. In case you were concerned in the fuel consumption, don’t be, because the Qashqai equipped with this engine will return 5.8 liters of fuel every 100 km (48.7 mpg UK / 40.5 mpg US) and it will be emitting 134 g/km of CO2.
The DIG-T 163 engine is offered only with a 6-speed manual transmission and this is sending power to the front wheels. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration takes 9.1 seconds and top speed stands at 200 km/h (124 mph). No pricing details on it have been announced yet but the model will go on sale in January, 2015.
