A Nismo version of the second generation Nissan Qashqai is currently in the works and it should become more powerful than its smaller brother, the Juke Nismo.
Nissan is planning to introduce a Nismo version of the new Qashqai generation as part of a strategy which will offer such variants on all of the company’s models. The announcement has been made by Andy Palmer, the carmaker’s global product chief, who has spoken to the guys at Car Magazine. According to the company’s official, the new Nissan Qashqai Nismo will sit on top of the range and it will be more powerful than the Juke Nismo, which we also tested here.
The Nissan Juke Nismo is coming with a 1.6 liter DOHC four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which is producing a total output of 200 HP (147 kW) and it has a peak torque of 249 Nm (184 lb-ft). The Qashqai Nismo might use the updated 215 HP (157 kW) variant from the Juke Nismo RS. Besides the more power which will be received by the new Qashqai Nismo, the model in question will also get improved handling, ride, brakes and so on, along with an aggressive body kit, sports seats and much more. The Nissan Qashqai Nismo is believed to make its public debut by the end of 2014.
