Nissan division managed to set a new May sales record, with 106,558 units sold, up 31.2%.
Nissan reached a new May sales record thanks to its top-selling models such as the Rogue, Sentra, Pathfinder and Altima. Nissan North America also hit a record May US sales with 114,457 units sold, up 24.7%, while Infiniti sold 7,899 vehicles, a decrease of 25.4%.
“We are in the midst of launching five all-new, top-selling Nissan models in 15 months, and the effort is paying off. Altima, Pathfinder and Sentra, the first three of these launches, are up a combined 64.6 percent in May, which shows that our new products are hitting the sweet spot of delivering the innovation, style and value that buyers want,” said Jose Munoz, senior vice president for Sales and Marketing, Nissan Americas.
The all-electric Nissan LEAF sold 2,138 units in May, up 319.2%, the second –best month ever for the model. Since the 2013 LEAF March launch the automaker sold 6,311 units, up 322,6% compared with the same period last year. The Nissan Pathfinder sold 9,340 units, an increase of 292.9%, the Altima sold 31,940 units, up 40.8%, the all-new Nissan Sentra sold 12,504 units, up 64.5% and the Rogue sold 17,333 units, up 44.7%, its best month ever.
