Because everyone wants to relate to the solar eclipse, Nissan has announced the introduction of new special edition pickups that recreate the black moment with a bevy of darkened trim.
Just as Mitsubishi – now an alliance partner with Nissan – debuted the North American version of the new Eclipse Cross during the solar eclipse, so did its Japanese counterpart, which in turn introduced the dark-trimmed Midnight Editions of the Titan, Titan XD, and Frontier. The special edition trucks come with black trim everywhere – the Titan gets dark parts for the front grille, headlight surrounds, foglight trim, as well as the fender louvers on the Titan XD. The mirror caps, door handles, badges, and step rails are also treated to the same dark appearance. Rounding up the exterior changes is the addition of a set of 20-inch black-painted wheels.
Owners can also order other colors to contrast with the dark trim as it’s also available in Gun Metallic gray and Pearl White – naturally besides the ubiquitous black. For the interior, Nissan has prepared Charcoal accents and Midnight Edition floor mats. The Titan gets the Midnight Edition on the SV and SL with Crew Cab body, both in 4×4 and 4×2 flavors. The Titan XD Midnight is exclusive to the Crew Cab SV and SL, 4×4, equipped with the Cummins 5.0-liter V8 turbodiesel. The Frontier Midnight Edition features similar updates – gloss black grille, semi-gloss black step rails, dark trim for the mirror caps and door handles, badges and body-colored front and rear bumpers. Available hues include Magnetic Black, Gun Metallic and Glacier White – and the special edition can be had with the Crew Cab SV 4×2 and 4×4 automatic models.
