The Japanese based automaker Nissan is planning to compete against the Toyota GT 86 with a Juke based sports car.
Even if there is no official word on a direct competitor to the Toyota GT 86 from the car manufacturer, pills Motor Trend is saying that the model will be named the Mini-Z and it will be a front-wheel drive sports car based on the small urban crossover, no rx the Juke. The Nissan Mini-Z will be offered with all-wheel drive too and it will be similar in size to the Honda CR-Z, getting a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine under its hood, which will develop 190 HP.
The Nissan Mini-Z has been apparently approved for production and it should hit the production line pretty soon because it’s expected to be unveiled next year. Unfortunately this is all the info we have got on Nissan’s future sports car based on the Juke but as a quick reminder, its direct competitor, the Toyota GT 86, is coming with a 2.0 liter four-cylinder petrol unit borrowed from Subaru and fitted with the company’s D-4S direct injection, the same engine used on the BRZ and Scion FR-S, which is producing 187 HP and 205 Nm of torque (151 lb-ft). In standard, the unit is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
