Qashqai’s larger brother, the X-Trail, has received a new engine under its hood, in the United Kingdom, as Nissan has recently announced.
The 2015 Nissan X-Trail is now becoming more affordable in the United Kingdom as the carmaker has introduced a new engine for it. According to the Japanese brand, the model in question, which has been called the DIG-T 163, has a starting price of 21,995 GBP and this means that it is almost 1,500 GBP cheaper compared to the popular dCi 130 version.
“To help drivers go further for less, the new DIG-T 163 is equipped with Start/Stop ignition system and delivers the kind of smooth, responsive and high quality driving experience that Nissan customers have come to expect. The new DIG-T 163 engine is available across all standard X-Trail grades, with Acenta, n-tec and Tekna offering seven seater options”, said the carmaker in its press release.
The Nissan X-Trail DIG-T 163 is packing a 1.6 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under its hood. This is capable of putting down a total of 163 HP (120 kW) and it has a peak torque of 240 Nm (177 lb-ft). Power is being sent to the front-wheel drive only through a 6-speed manual transmission which is allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.7 seconds and to reach a top speed of 199 km/h (124 mph). The average fuel consumption stands at 6.1L / 100km (45.6 mpg UK / 37.9 mpg US).
