The Japanese based automaker Nissan has put some light on its future Volkswagen Golf rival, which is expected to make its way onto the market in 2014.
According to the company’s official, Andy Palmer, the new hatchback which will be produced by Nissan will be a direct rival for the Volkswagen Golf. Palmer says that the car won’t look like the German vehicle and the brand will aim customers who are bored of the MK7 VW Golf. Andy Palmer also confirmed a rumor on where the new Nissan hatchback will be produced, after saying that the model will come to life in Spain, probably in the Barcelona facility.
The brand new Nissan hatchback will be based on the Invitation concept and it will get features like the low cost satellite navigation system, the self parking system, a full length panoramic sunroof and more. As for the engine lineup, rumors are saying that this will include units like the 1.2 liter and the 1.5 liter made by Renault-Nissan. An electric version is also a possibility. The new Nissan hatchback is expected to be eventually transformed into a new generation of the Qashqai, eventually. Additional details on the model remain unknown for the moment.
