Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson recently told the South African radio show Ballz Visual Radio that “there’s no Top Gear on this year”.
While that could be taken a number of ways, it seems to indicate the famous show won’t return until 2013. The reasons for the delay in the BBC show are unconfirmed. However, there has been talk that the Olympics in London may have something to do with it.
The Olympics is a big white elephant on the BBC’s schedule, sucking up resources in the last half of the year.
And after that, The X Factor returns to the BBC and they don’t want to put Top Gear up against it.
The crew will probably return in 2013 for Season 19. On Twitter he reconfirmed the story and told his followers there will be a Christmas Special in 2012.
“The good news is that the longer we have to make the films, the better they will be.
“We will be back in January.”
In the meantime, viewers needing a “Top Gear” fix will have to turn to the lackluster and slightly boring “Top Gear U.S.A”.
