The German tuner’s passion for the Prancing Horse has led to another spectacular tuning kit, which includes a power upgrade to 772 hp and a wind tunnel-tested, carbon fiber aero body kit.
German tuner Novitec Rosso has been quick to deliver its take on the 488 Spider, which follows the treatment applied to the hardtop 488 coupe. So, Novitec’s Spider gets numerous elements from the coupe brethren, including a carbon fiber bodykit, which was put through “laborious wind tunnel testing,” and should increase front end downforce at high speeds. It is made out of a large front splitter and rocker panels, a new rear diffuser that’s way more self-explanatory than the standard item – and there’s also the selection of two spoilers, a more subtle or way bigger option.
The black carbon fiber looks the part, and there are also black LED side repeaters and third brake light. Novitec’s in-house designed forged alloy wheels complete the looks, with two design choices for 21-inches all-round, or staggered at 21-in front and 22-in rear. The 3.9-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine has received a Novitec N-Tronic electronic control unit, which fiddles with the injection and ignition timing, and there’s also a high-performance exhaust. This is good for another 102 horsepower, taking up the stable to 772 hp (568 kilowatts) and 658 pound-feet of torque (892 Newton meters). Zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) goes down to 2.8 seconds and the maximum speed is increased to 212 mph (342 km/h).
